Big wins for the little Roosters

Cobar Junior Rugby League teams travelled to Gulgong for Round 6 of the Castlereagh competition on Saturday.

Cobar’s Under 14s finished with a huge 64-0 win over Gulgong with the Cobar team sharing their 11 tries around.

Taj Goonrey and Alfie Toomey touched down twice with George Wainiqolo, Judd Josephson, Tommy George, Senio Taufao, Dusty McDonald, Eligh Ritter and Austin Kane their other try scorers.

Austin also added a further 18 points with successful conversions throughout the day, and Tommy George also landed a conversion for the team.

Best & Fairest points were shared by Harlym Curtis, Austin Kane, Sonny Stephens and Taj Goonrey. Dusty McDonald earned the Coaches Award and the team’s Players’ Player was Harlym Curtis.

The Roosters Under 16s team also finished with a win beating their Gulgong hosts 24-10.

Lachie Brookman (2), Rowdy Barton, Cohan Nicholson, and Josh Francisco ran in tries for Cobar.

Best & Fairest points were shared by Lachie Brookman, Josh Francisco, and Corey Piggot.

Corey also collected the Coaches Award and Josh was named Players’ Player.

The Cobar girls were narrowly beaten 18-16 in their League Tag match with Gulgong.

Norma Mugugia, Lila Armstrong, and Skyla Fairfull touched down for tries for Cobar with Rhylee Jeffrey converting two of her three attempts at goal.

B&F points went to Skyla, Rhylee, and Lara Stephens. Skyla also collected the Coaches Award while Baiza Maliha was named their Players’ Player.

In the uncontested Under 12s game, B&F points were earned by Cooper Trudgett, Bradley Hampton and Liam Cain with Bradley also collecting the Coaches Award. Their Players’ Player was Callum Bennett.

Tries for Cobar in the Under 10s game were scored by Rosie George, Ollie Tranter, Clayton Harvey, Macii Lumber, Darcy Geppert, and Niklaus Flack-Hogan. B&F points went to Ollie, Rosie and Harlan Mahaffrey.

In the Minis competition on Sunday, the Under 8s award winners were Ashton Ebsworth, Zara Shepherd, Mason Hill and Nate Sullivan.

The Under 6 winners were Nash Woods, Nikoa Atuau, Theo Landale, and Archie Thomas.

The Little League Stars awards went to Billy Peters, Keinan Barrett, Koah Houlston, and Bronte Thomas.
