Murray Harland has once again earned the Cobar Yabbies Senior Men’s Swimming Club’s top gong collecting the Overall Point Score trophy at the club’s 2022/2023 presentations on Friday night.
Harland adds the 2022/2023 season Club Champion title to his impressive list of seven wins of the award.
His first win was in the 2005/2006 season and Harland’s most recent was last year.
Past club president, Ian Settree (dec) however holds the record of most championships titles having won Club Champion eight times, from his first win in 1981/1982 to his last in the 2010/2011 season.
Another club veteran, Bill Fugar, has also been a regular winner over the years claiming six Club Championship titles from 2004/2005 to his last win in season 2018/2019.
This year, in addition to winning the Overall Point Score trophy, Harland also finished out in front in the 50m Russel Harland Memorial Shield with 75 points.
Paul Swainston was the runner-up with 63 and Matt Harland (59) was third.
Murray Harland also won the 100m Phil Knuckey Memorial Shield after finishing the season with 77 points ahead of runner-up Chris Powell (72) and Swainston (60) was third.
Swainston, with 76 points, pipped Harland by just three points to win the 30m Cobar Bowling & Golf Club trophy with Harland (73) finishing as the runner-up and Bill Fugar was third on 71.
This season’s Ian Settree Memorial One Night Stand Award went to Jason Toomey who had the lowest combined times in one night.
The Brace Relay event winners of the season were Chris Powell and Lucas Hardy.
Kyle Roberts was the Most Improved swimmer of the season to collect the Tom Knight Memorial Shield.
