Aust Day judges unable to pick just one winner

The judges for this year’s Australia Day awards couldn’t just pick one winner in the Community Event of the Year category and so awarded the accolade to two community events.

Bands in the Bush, an outdoor music concert on September 23 at the Ailsa Fitzsimmons Memorial Oval, and Festival of the Miners Ghost from October 27-29 that involved multiple events and community groups celebrating our mining heritage, shared the award.

Both events were organised by Cobar Shire Council with the aim of entertaining the community and attracting visitors and each demonstrated a commitment to enhancing the welfare and wellbeing of the local community.

The two events were very well attended and received excellent feedback.
