Another golf title for Egan and Francisco this season

There was a fantastic turn out of 17 teams for the Mixed Foursomes Club Championships over 27 holes on Sunday.

The Foursomes competition this year had the men teeing off the odd holes and the ladies off the evens with the front nine holes played twice in the shot for shot format.

The 2025 winners, Jay Egan and Geraldine Francisco, finished with 113 off the stick.

Egan’s heart palpitations concerning his partner’s putting ability proved to be a false alarm as Francisco’s putts were made in succession, much to his delight.

The runners-up on 119, were Garry and Jannine Wilkin (after a little hiccup in the addition process when the ‘Mrs’ gave them an extra 10 shots by mistake, oops!).

A mixed competition game was played in conjunction with the championships which had the Scratch winners, Egan and Francisco, clean up again scoring 95 nett.

In second spot were Greg Clark and Sue Phillips 101 3/4 nett followed by the Wilkin husband and wife duo (102 1/2 nett) while Peter and Robynne Lawrence finished in 4th place on 104 3/4 nett.

The Nearest the Pin prize for the women on the 8th hole was won by Janet Place and closest on the 3rd hole for the men was David ‘Flash’ Gordon.

Flash, playing with his wife Tina, had her in a bit of a pickle on the 18th fairway after his shot out of the hazard landed across the fairway and lodged in a tree. Declining a leg up, in what was an unplayable lie, a penalty drop was taken instead.

By all accounts David ‘Ooze’ Knight’s counselling services on the 19th were not needed this year … but it was reportedly close for one couple!…full story in this week’s edition out now!
