It was the teachers who went to the top of the class in the Cobar Yabbies Senior Men’s Swimming Club competition last Tuesday night.
All four of the events contested at the Cobar Memorial Swimming Pool were won by teachers and three of those wins were with spot on times.
After the data was calculated on the first event of the night, the 30 metres handicapped freestyle swim, science master Andrew Watts was declared the winner with a time of 0.06 seconds off his nominated time.
He just pipped Murray Harland (with 0.07) with Sam Kershaw further back in third place on 0.16.
PE trained teacher Zach Finn and HSIE trained teacher John Carswell had accurately calculated their nominated times in the 50m swim with both swimming spot on their nominated times to share first place wiping the rest of the field off the board.
Matt Harland, with 0.31 off his time, finished back in third place.
A Yabbies regular high achiever, primary school teacher Cameron van Breugel, effortlessly claimed first place in the 100m swim with his spot on time.
Murray Harland was close behind on 0.03 and Bill Fugar finished in third place on 0.28.
Van Bruegel and Fugar gave the other
competitors in the Brace Relay event a tutorial in how to accurately swim backstroke across the pool and then butterfly back to finish within 0.47 seconds of their time and claim the win.
Murray Harland and Kershaw were behind on 0.63 with Carswell and Colin ‘Butch’ Eves finished in third place on 0.79.
