Local woman Laura Ah-See was in Canberra last week participating in the National Rural Women’s Coalition (NRWC) Leadership Muster.
The NRWC is funded by the Federal Government through the Office for Women and works to support and grow vibrant rural, regional and remote communities.
The Women’s Leadership Muster is a development program specially designed for rural, remote and regional women aged between 25 and 40.
Laura, a child, youth and family mental health worker with Interrelate, was one of 12 young women selected to participate in last week’s muster from a group of applicants from all around Australia.
She said it was an amazing and memorable experience.
“The Muster gave us an opportunity to attend Parliament House, meet some inspiring women leaders and politicians, ministers, senators, federal members, advisors, diary managers
etc.
“This was a great opportunity for me to talk about my passion in the area of mental health, the challenges I face in my work living in remote NSW, my personal goals and the Cobar community,” Laura said.
“I’m so grateful to have had this opportunity.
“It has totally changed my life,” she said.
