Residents who have suggestions, issues or concerns with Cobar Shire Council’s Annual Operational Plan (AOP) are encouraged to go along to tomorrow night’s public meeting.
Council is holding a public meeting to hear the community’s input into their 2018/2019 AOP.
The plan includes council’s 2018/2019 Budget, council’s Revenue Policy, the 2018/2019 Fees and Charges and lists the actions that council will be undertaking to address the key strategies outlined in the Delivery Program and the Community Strategic Plan.
Council’s projects officer, Angela Shepherd said the purpose of the meeting was to give a very broad explanation of next year’s budget and also outline the projects that will be funded by it.
Ms Shepherd said she is hoping that anyone is who is interested in hearing about what is happening in town will go along to the meeting.
“It is an excellent chance for residents to hear first hand what council has planned and have your voice heard,” Ms Shepherd said.
She said council is hoping to get suggestions for things around town that residents might want improved.
“They might have an idea of a recreational activity or area, a piece of infrastructure, or even a business idea.
“We really do use this information,” she said.
“Sometimes it can however take a year or two for the ideas to take shape, but if we never hear about it then it will never happen,” Ms Shepherd said.
Council staff will explain the plan and will be on hand to answer any questions residents may have.
A copy of the AOP can be found on council’s website or can be viewed at the Council Administration Offices and Cobar Library.
