The Cobar Roosterettes returned to their top form with a convincing 34-0 win over Trangie in Round 4 of the Castlereagh Ladies League Tag competition played at Tom Knight Memorial Oval on Saturday.
The Cobar team exploded into the Castlereagh competition this season with the side having won the pre-season knock-out with wins over Gilgandra, Baradine and Coonamble and then a Round 1 victory over Gulgong.
However the Roosterettes suffered a shock loss last week up against Coonamble, it was their first in more than two years.
The Trangie Magpies ladies had plenty of possession early in Saturday’s game and looked threatening attacking the Cobar line.
The Roosterettes’ defence was tested on a number of occasions but held strong.
When Cobar did get the ball in their half they made good work of it with Laura Ah-See putting first points on the board.
The successful conversion by Peta Woods put them 6-0 ahead.
Tanya Gilbert followed up with a neat little scoot over try on the line and Taylah Good crossed out wide after finding an overlap on the wing for the Roosterettes to go to the sheds with a 14-0 half time lead.
Soon after the restart, Roosterettes’ fullback Nikki Davey weaved her way through the Trangie defence to score.
It wasn’t long after that big sister Lisa Travis crossed under the posts when the Trangie defenders fell for a brilliant dummy pass.
Codi Mackay and Brennah Aumua both outpaced their Trangie defenders to score a try each for the Roosterettes to finish with a 34-0 win.
