Despite going into last month’s Condo 750 offroad rally ranked outside the top 30, local rider Greg Prisk finished as the overall winner of the motorbike class.
The Condo 750 is a two-day offroad navigational rally for cars, motorbikes, buggies, quad bikes and side cars bringing together a host of local and international talent for three days of action at Condobolin.
With 18 years of riding experience under his belt, this was Prisk’s second time competing in the Condo 750.
“I raced last year and crashed out on Day 2,” Prisk told The Cobar Weekly.
Competing in the E3 Class (290-500cc two stroke/475-650cc four stroke bikes), the different track from last year provided a few challenges before he got to go home with the trophy.
From the prologue which determined their start order, Prisk was the 6th rider to head off, five minutes behind the first rider at 7.05am. (The last rider started at 7.41am.)
“The first race of Day 1 was real tight and hard navigation,” Prisk said.
“We had to slow down, to make sure to get the navigation right, cause it could cost you probably 8-9 minutes if you got it wrong”.
Prisk said they also had to contend with lots of kangaroos and emus on the track.
At the end of Day 1, he was in second place and was the second rider to leave on Day 2, one minute behind the overnight leader.
Prisk had another good day on the track to finish as the outright winner and also the winner of his E3 class.
He finished with a time of 8 hours, 31 minutes and 41 seconds and was more than six minutes faster than second place.
Prisk will now take a short break from racing with his next scheduled competition ride not until September.
