The Great Cobar Museum project stages 2 and 3 are almost complete and will soon be open to the public. The Cobar Weekly had another sneak peek yesterday and snapped a few photos of the outdoor displays. Above in the background are two boilers, used at the Gladstone Mine. Also pictured is ‘Big Red’, an Ingersoll Rand compressor, used at the CSA. Workers of the time described it as ‘the pride of the fleet’. The smaller motors at front were both used at the Queen Bee mine in the early 1900s. Some of the outdoor displays feature sound recordings of the daily operations on a mine site including tapping, crushing and workers calling to each other.
