The annual Townies v Bushies grudge-match golf day was held on Saturday and the Townies, well led by captain Michael Bannister, won the day with a final score of 233, beating the Bushies by 13 shots.

Since the event was first run 22 years ago, the Bushies have won over 70 per cent of the time and Bannister has had to eat humble pie on all those lean years.

Partly the reason was because the Bushies were so astutely led by Dave ‘Ooze’ Knight during that time.

But Ooze has now retired and on Saturday the Bushies new captain was Stewart Fraser.

It was also the Ernie Potter Memorial Day, and the winning combination was Greg Clark and Mick Harvey, (Townies) with a score of 54½.

They were one shot clear of a pair of Bushies, Jarrod Marsden and Andy Taylor on 55½.

Third place went to Kody Ford and Bobby Schofield (Townies) on 56½.

Stewart Fraser and John Carlaw had the worst score of the day with 66.

Nearest the Pin prizes were won by Harvey on the 7th hole, Taylor won the 8th and Schofield collected the prize on the 15th.
