Cowboys come out on top in grand final preview game

Concrete Cowboys (blue and white uniforms) and the MTE Mako’s (blue and black) played out a possible preview of this season’s Open Mixed Touch A grade grand final last week with the Cowboys coming out on top as eventual 4-1 winners.

In what could possibly have been a preview of this season’s grand final, top of the table, Concretes Cowboys, took on second placed MTE Mako’s in the Mixed Open Touch competition on Thursday night.

It proved to be a grand final worthy game with the scores locked at 0-all at half time.

The Concrete Cowboys had the benefit of a full side and plenty of subs which ultimately helped them to finish as 4-1 winners.

MTE Mako’s were missing a couple of their key players for last week’s game and only had a few male subs on their bench.

Niamh Urquhart’s two-point try and one try each to Ryan Urquhart and Toby Greenwood helped the Concrete Cowboys to their win and kept their unbeaten record this season intact.

Kody Martin was the only player for MTE Mako’s to penetrate the Concrete Cowboys’ try line.

Ash Davies (Concrete Cowboys), Tommy Bryan (MTE Mako’s) and Tyler Coughlan (Concrete Cowboys) shared in the referee’s Best & Fairest points…full report in this week’s edition.
