Redbacks and Maroon Rangers to meet in Mids grand final

The Redbacks team are through to the Cobar Junior Soccer Club’s Mids grand final after they accounted for Black Knights 3-1 in the elimination semi on Saturday morning at Ward Oval.

The Redbacks will play the Maroon Rangers in the Cobar Junior Soccer Club’s Mids grand final game this week after both sides won their elimination semis on Saturday at Ward Oval.

Redbacks weaved their way into the grand final after accounting for Black Knights 3-1 in a thriller of a match.

Redbacks’ goals were netted by Joseph Theakston (2) and Edwin Palma while Tom Preisig booted Black Knights’ lone goal.

Maroon Rangers won their grand final seat after they accounted for Polar Bears 5-3.

Alfie Toomey and Darcy Geppert scored two goals each for Maroon Rangers and Henry Ntamuhanga booted in their other goal.

Henry Geppert (2) and Hayden Griffiths were responsible for Polar Bears’ three points.

In the other Mids game, The Sharks beat Bengal Tigers 3-nil with all three of The Sharks’ goals kicked by Judd Josephson.

A 4-all tie was played out in the Seniors game between Mill Rats and Rock Apes.

Parker Cryer found the back of the net twice    to record two goals while his Mill Rats team mates, Jayden Cryer and Jeremiah McMillan, netted their other two points.

Rock Apes’ goals were scored by Isaac Theakston (3) and Ben Jebb.

In the Mini’s division, Sky Strikers beat Pitch Pirates 4-1.

The Pitch Pirates were down a few players but still played well, particularly Mason Hill who covered the field well to be everywhere at once, but they found it hard to contain the determined Sky Strikers team. Nestor Linn and Zane Ntamuhanga booted two goals each for Sky Strikers and Mason Hill was responsible for Pitch Pirates’ lone goal.

Raging Rhinos won their match against Purple Wanderers 3-1 with all three of Raging Rhinos’ points coming from the boot of the ever consistent Noah Seymour.

Archie Myer-Ryan kicked a goal for his Purple Wanderers team.

The Mini’s game between Cornish Dragons and Orange Rovers was a close one with Cornish Dragons eventually slaying the Rovers to win 1-nil.

Trip Ackerley was the goal scorer.
