Cobar Open attracts cream of darts crop

Six state players were among the impressive line up of 56 players for the Cobar Darts Open held over the weekend at the Cobar Bowling & Golf Club.

The event offered $3,500 in prizemoney along with Darts NSW and Darts Australia points and attracted players from around the state including Sydney, Tamworth and Cootamundra as well as South Australia.

In Friday’s Y-Not Blind Drawn Doubles event, Blake Thickett (SA) and Sara Howie (Sydney) finished as the winners.

The Ladies and Men’s Doubles tournaments were contested on Saturday.

Sydney mother and daughter duo Andrea Hendley and Natalie Hendley finished as the Ladies Doubles title winners after accounting for another mother and daughter duo, Gemma Spence and Julie Ridgewell from Tamworth.

Three state players featured in the Men’s Doubles final including South Australia’s Brayden Sperling, who heads off to Europe next month for the World Masters competition.

Sperling and SA team mate John Nottage finished as the victors over the state duo of Luke Wilson and Sara Howie.

The Singles champions were decided on Sunday with Andrea Hendley outplaying Madison Mabbott for the Ladies’ title.

Sperling once again came up against Wilson in the Men’s Singles final with Sperling grabbing the glory to take the Men’s Singles title…Full report in this week’s edition out now!
