The Cobar Roosters First Grade side beat the Group 11 Macquarie Raiders Reserve Grade team 22-20 in a preseason game on Saturday in Nyngan.
Cobar had traveled to Nyngan with a close to full strength squad anticipating a close encounter with Dubbo Macquarie.
Co-coach Thomas Plater said while there were a few errors from both sides, a tidy match showcased the skills of both teams.
“Some new and some returning players formed part of the Cobar squad which developed cohesion throughout the match,” he said.
Plater said both he and co-coach Loma Atuau were pleased with the team’s efforts, particularly where the Cobar forward pack was able to get a roll on.
