Leanne and Wayne Mackay took out the first place prize of $500 Cobar Quids in The Cobar Weekly’s 2023 Christmas Cheer competition but the couple said they didn’t enter for the money.
Leanne actually didn’t even know they were entered in this year’s competition as it was Wayne who nominated them.
“We do it for the kids,” Leanne said.
And while their own grandchildren get a thrill out of the huge display at their Echidna Avenue home, so too do many other children.
“It’s fantastic to sit out the front on Christmas Eve and see the kids go past and hear them go ‘Oh and Ah’ when they see the lights,” Leanne said.
