There’s plenty of car enthusiasts in town and many of them are members of the Dust Bowl Fuel Burners club.
When they heard the Penrite car was going to be in town at Cobar AutoPro on Saturday morning they decided to turn their regular Coffee and Cars monthly social get together into a bit more of an event.
Members lined their own car pride and joys up and down Barton Street, cooked a barbecue and hosted the Gumnut coffee van.
Lots of Saturday shoppers called in to have a look.
Dubbo-based Penrite dealer Scott Barber drove the car to Cobar from Dubbo and commented that it drove well.
“It’s really comfortable for a sports car,” Scott told The Cobar Weekly.
The 2021 Ford Mustang, five litre, V8 is a ‘mock up’ of the car that competes in the Repco Bathurst 1000 race.
“They wont give us that one,” Scott joked.
“This one does the speed limit but the other ones can do up to 300km per hour, so hopefully we [Penrite] will get a win this year,” he said of next month’s big race.
Scott said in the lead up to Bathurst he was pleased to be able to show support to his Penrite oils and coolant stockists in country areas by showing off the car.
