The Cobar Australian Army Cadet unit enjoyed a night out at the Cobar Memorial Services club on Saturday night where the year’s awards were also presented.
Mayor Lilliane Brady; RSL sub-branch president Ben Hewlett; and Battallion Commander Major (ACC) Chris Boucher all attended the evening and gave speeches to the 52 attendees.
Officer Commanding Captain (ACC) Colleen Boucher presented the awards to the cadets.
Several awards were also presented by fellow cadets.
The winners were Cadet Denene Inch who took home both the AFX Outstanding Cadet award and the Trained Soldier award; Corporal Rowan Martin who won both the Attendance award and the Cartner Family award; and Corporal Brandy Shephard won both the Dress and Bearing award and the Greenie Award for Mateship.
The Drill award went to Cadet Baily Cain; Recruit Nash Shephard won the Encouragement Award for a New Cadet; the Navigation award went to Cadet Paul Hudson; and the Boucher Shield went home with Sergeant Jye Robinson.
Cpt Boucher told The Cobar Weekly that the event was a great success and that she has had lots of feedback about what a wonderful evening it was.
The trophies were donated by various community members and businesses.
