completing a ride on Postie bikes to Cameron’s Corner and back to raise funds for the Miracle Babies Foundation.
The Posties to the Corner motorbike squad completed their fundraising trip for the Miracle Babies Foundation on Monday, arriving at the Empire Hotel around noon.
The CSA Mine’s Reggie’s Mobile Maintenance Crew group’s spokesperson, Ben Hewlett said the 1,400km ride to Cameron’s Corner and back had been a great trip but it was good to be home.
He said the final figure raised for the Miracle Babies Foundation is undetermined as yet but he expects it will be in the vicinity of $14,000, which is an incredible amount, especially when they were originally aiming for $5,000.
Mr Hewlett reported the boys were all very excited on the first day when they left town last Wednesday morning after a farewell breakfast from Earth Candy Co and the Cobar Roosters Rugby League Club.
He said the group all found the second day of riding to Tibooburra lots of fun with great roads.
“The trip out to Cameron’s Corner and back was a very big, long day and it was very hot and dusty but everyone was happy that they had made it half way,” Mr Hewlett said.
During the trip the group stopped at the Packsaddle Roadhouse and were made to feel very welcome at their stop in White Cliffs.
“We were treated like princes with a great meal and a group of miners staying in an underground motel brought out a lot of bad mining jokes,” Mr Hewlett said.
The group arrived home on Monday to a free meal at the Empire Hotel.
“We are all walking well, the [bike] seats were padded and surprisingly comfy,” Mr Hewlett said.
In support of the ride, local masseur, Mel Singh at Sundara Massage, offered her services to massage out any lingering aches the riders had yesterday.
The Posties to the Corner Facebook page had an impressive 829 followers for their outback adventure to raise funds for Miracle Babies.
