Cobar joined the national push to eliminate violence against women and girls during a light lunch held at Drummond Park last week as part of the annual White Ribbon Australia campaign.
White Ribbon claims its campaign is one of Australia’s biggest movements that en-gages men and boys to end violence against women.
The annual White Ribbon campaign also has a clear purpose to promote gender equality and a focus on males building positive, healthy and respectful relation-ships with women.
“We continue to promote awareness around preventing violence towards women,” Women’s Domestic Violence Court Assistance Service (WDVCAS) officer Mikaela Bowden said.
“The White Ribbon Appeal is a major way each year that we vocalise and say, ‘violence is never okay, particularly to-wards those less vulnerable, including women and girls’.”
White Ribbon Australia focuses on primary prevention by creating awareness of its campaign at schools and workplaces across the country.
Through their programs and campaigns White Ribbon Australia positively encourages men to be proactive in the social change required to prevent men’s violence against women and children.
