A donation by Peak Gold Mines has enabled the Copper City Men’s Shed to purchase a brand new piece of equipment.
Men’s Shed Coordinator Gordon Hill said a $5,600 donation from the Peak Gold Mines has allowed them to replace their old small lathe with a larger current model.
“It will be able to be utilised on a wider variety of jobs,” Mr Hill said.
“The purchase of the new metal lathe
with the Peak donation and the recent purchase of a plasma cutter with a grant of funds from the Australian Men’s Shed Association
has resulted in the Men’s Shed metal workshop being well equipped for a wide range of
jobs.
“The new lathe has already been in operation as several Shed members who are qualified to use it, have tried it out.
“The donation from Peak Gold Mines was very much appreciated by the Shed members,” Mr Hill said.
“Men of all ages are welcome to join the Copper City Men’s Shed to learn new skills or maintain skills that they already have.
“The Shed has a wide range of tools and equipment that men can use to undertake their own projects or to work on the large number of community projects that the Shed is continually involved with,” Mr Hill said.
“The Shed is not “just for old men” and men visiting the Shed can be as busy or “unbusy” as they like.”
Mr Hill said a number of men just visit the Shed when it is open on Tuesday and Friday mornings for a “cuppa” and a yarn as part of the Shed’s Social inclusion program.
