The Cobar Yabbies Senior Men’s Swimming Club retained the Setts Cup after they once again beat the Nyngan Splashers RSL Swimming Club at the annual Setts Memorial Swim on Sunday in Nyngan.

The Cobar club has won the trophy every year since the carnival’s inception 10 years ago to honour the memory of former president, Ian ‘Setts’ Settree.

This year the Yabbies outnumbered and outswam their Nyngan counterparts finishing with 22 points for the day compared to Nyngan’s tally of just two points.

Bob Clark featured in three finals winning both the 30m and 50m handicapped freestyle events and Clark also collected more points for Cobar when he clocked in second in the 100m swim.

The Yabbies finished 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the 100m event with Stephen Clark the winner over Bob Clark and Scott Toomey was third.

They also grabbed the top three places in the 50m swim with Bob Clark finishing ahead of Greg Dimond and John Dunn was third.

Bob Clark won the 30m event with Toomey recording another third place.

Cobar also won the Brace Relay event.

Back at home at the Yabbies weekly club event last Tuesday, Stephen Clark was the first Yabby this season to win a ham.

Clark’s first place finish in the 30 metres handicapped freestyle swim and a second placing in the 100m event earnt him the highest points for the night and the prize of a ham.

He won the 30m event with a time of 0.03 seconds off his nominated time in the big field of 20 simmers.
