Exciting riding for Copper City Tri Series

A field of 40 riders, great weather and exciting competition between the out of towners and the locals made for a great finish for the Cobar Auto Club’s Copper City Tri Series on Saturday.

With plenty of competition, particularly in the Opens and All Powers classes, it came down to consistency being the key to winning the club’s coveted Tri Series trophies.

Broken Hill rider Logan Coombes took home the Opens, All Powers and Senior Lites trophies after finishing ahead in the points score over three rounds.

After wins in Round 3 on Saturday night, Coombes won the Opens class with 333 points ahead of Wayne Blenkiron (264) and third was Trent Fullagar (245).

In the All Powers class, Coombes finished with 332 points with Blenkiron again second with 218 and Todd Negfeldt was narrowly third on 214.

Coombes won the Senior Lites class with 375 points with Dean Norris (290) second and Fullagar (247) was third.

Other Tri Series class results were: Greybeards Over 35 years—1st Blenkiron (363), 2nd Norris (298) and 3rd Fullagar (280); Senior Ladies—1st Caitlin Norris (375) and 2nd Jayde George (330); Junior Ladies—Nicole Blenkiron (250); Junior Lites—1st Conor Paivinen (247), 2nd Zac Broughton and Nicole Blenkiron (215); and 3rd Kaeleb Saunders (208); 85cc 12-U16 years—1st Josh Scott (343), 2nd Molly Fairey (296), and 3rd Thomas Bryan (278); 85cc 9-U12 years—1st Blake Fairey (367), 2nd Clay McDonald (316) and 3rd Blaire Drady (280); 65cc 9-U12 years—1st Blake Fairey (369), 2nd Zach Snudden (316) and 3rd Clay McDonald (296); 65cc 7-9 years—1st Riley Smith and George McDonald (330), 2nd Billy George (321) and 3rd Corey Norris (256); 50cc High Power—1st Billy George (337), 2nd Riley Smith (324) and 3rd George McDonald (233).
