Wilkins team up and prove to be a winning combination

Golfing couple, Garry and Jannine Wilkin, paired up to win the Mixed Foursome Club Championships Scratch title on Sunday

After Saturday’s rain closed the golf course to all golfers, the Mixed Foursomes Club Championships were able to go ahead on Sunday with clear skies (and less dust than what golfers are used to) with 15 teams taking part.
The Scratch winners for 2021 over the 27 holes were the husband and wife team of Garry and Jannine Wilkin with 122 off the stick.
Close behind were runners-up Max Phillips and Fay Hardwick posting 125.
Parramatta may have let Peter ‘Ding’ Law-rence down in Saturday night’s NRL semi final but that didn’t stop him teaming up with wife Robynne on Sunday to win the 27 hole handicap with a net score of 100 1/2.
The runners-up were Jay Egan and visitor Michelle Coburn on a countback from Garry and Jannine Wilkin after all finished with 103 1/4 net.
In 4th position were Marc Quinn and Glen-da Peebles posting 104 3/4 net.
The Nearest the Pin winner on the 15th hole for the men was Garry Wilkin and the ladies Nearest the Pin prize on the 8th hole went to Geraldine Francisco.
Angela Fryer survived a countback in last Wednesday’s Ladies’ Stableford game to win the day from Sally Bannister after both play-ers scored 36 points.
Glenda Peebles was third with 34 followed by another countback between Pat Polack and Barb Barklimore, after they both ended the day with 32 points.
The Nearest the Pin winners on the 8th hole were Narelle Kriz, Susan Goonrey and Glen-da Peebles.
Today’s Stroke event will be a practice run for many looking towards the coming week-end’s competitions.
Saturday and Sunday are expected to be big days with the 2021 Ladies Club Champion-ships to be played over 27 holes on both days.
Saturday will be a free day.—T’d Off
