Wild dog baiting to commence

Western Local Land Services is set to undertake its aerial baiting program for the control of wild dogs in the western region.

The program includes the use of 1080 (pronounced ‘ten eighty’) poison baits which are to be applied at the rate of 10 baits per kilometre.

The program will commence later this month and is planned to be completed early next month, with 142 properties involved covering an area from Enngonia in the north-east, to Broken Hill in the west, near Pooncarie in the south-west and to Mount Hope in the south-east.

Following aerial baiting, ground baiting will be carried out throughout September.

The Western LLS has assured landholders that all baiting activities will also adhere to
COVID-19 guidelines.
