Very successful day for the Cobar Junior Rugby League Club

It was a big day for the Cobar Junior League Club on Saturday when they hosted five Narromine teams.

The junior club also joined with Cobar Senior Rugby League to dig up a long buried time capsule, make dedications to three past players and host NRL rugby league legends Ray Price and Kevin Hastings at a club fundraiser.

The Cobar Under 10s team started off the day of celebrations with a high scoring 36-22 win over the visitors.

Tries for Cobar were recorded by Rowdy Barton, Nate Martin (3), Cohan Nicholson, Jacob Chandler and Kai McCosker.

Goals came from Rowdy, Nate, Kai and Kairo Ngata.

The Under 11s won their game, which was a 20-16 thriller.

Tim Eves, Jay Lamond, Hayden Seng and Jhett Walsh crossed for tries with conversions kicked by Tim and Jack Rogers.

The Roosters Under 12s put on a good show in their game but were beaten 28-12 by the visitors. Reece Josephson and Dustin Crotty scored tries and Reece and Lochlan Abel kicked their goals.

The Under 14s went down 50-12 in their match with the Narromine visitors.

Reynold Mugugia and Jayden Paul crossed for the Roosters with Tadgh Mullen converting both tries.

The home side won the 15/16s game in sensational style grabbing a last minute 22-16 win.

After leading 10-6 at halftime, Narromine came back at the Cobar boys but the Roosters resurged to steal the win with a late try.

Cobar’s try scorers included Ben Griffiths, Zane Taylor, Ryan Urquhart and Reynold Mugugia with Ben and Ryan (2) responsible for their conversions.

In the Mini’s Under 6s game on Sunday morning, Brock Eves and Ryan Jiang were named the Coach’s best players while in the Under 8s Mods game, Lucas Townsend and Tom Knight were their coach’s picks.
