Very close netball competition

The Cobar Netball Association held a fundraiser on Saturday in support for one of their umpires, Larnie Keen. The club sold 119 bandanas which raised $714 for the Melanoma Institute Australia and in addition the club will donate $500 to Larnie to go towards her cancer treatment expenses. Two very close games were played in the senior netball competition on Saturday with both the winning sides finishing with 38 points.

Golfie Mystics beat Brush Stop 38-34 in their game and JKM Dynamic Fitness won their match 38-33 over ENDivas.

It was a nail bitter of a game between Golfie Mystics and Brushstop.

After trailing by six goals at half time, Brush Stop fought back in the third quarter to level the scores at 29-all.

Golfie Mystics refused to surrender and finished strongly to eventually win the game by four points.

JKM Dynamic Fitness started strongly and maintained a seven goals led over ENDivas throughout the first half of their match.

ENDivas came back in the third quarter to trail by just two goals but JKM Dynamic Fitness closed out the match to finish with a five points win, 38-33.

The Desert Peas had to call in a floater last week to ensure they could field a full side when they came up against Sparks.

The phone call paid off with Desert Peas winning their match against Sparks 38-25.

Sparks’ Lena Fennamore was a stand out to collect the game’s Best and Fairest three points.

Two points went to Desert Peas’ Kate Miller and Samantha Lloyd (Desert Peas) collected one point.

Sharpe Shooters were in top form in their Round 10 game on Saturday easily winning their encounter with Wildcats 32-17.

By half time Sharpe Shooters were ahead by 10 goals, 17-7 and in the third quarter they were shooting at a ratio of 2:1 to extend their lead to 15 points going into the final quarter.

Wildcats rallied in the final quarter to match Sharpe Shooters goal for goal, however the damage had already been done and Sharpe Shooters finished with a 15 point win.
