Untouchables had one of their best games of the Fast5 Netball season last Tuesday night with their winning performance earning them a Pool A grand final berth.
The Untouchables team features three husband and wife couples, two siblings and a couple of mates however they only had five players to start last week’s final before a 6th team member joined them at half time.
However that was all they needed to beat their Autobots opposition, 37-22.
Andrew Hill showed plenty of versatility throughout the match for Untouchables playing Goal Keeper along side his wife Amie Hill for the first half. He then switched to Goal Shooter when Tim Woods joined the team at half time and took over the Goal Keeper’s duties. Untouchables took an early three goals lead and then extended that margin to nine points at the half time break.
Autobots used their Power Play option (when points are doubled) in Quarter 3 and brought their deficit back to seven points, however Untouchables still had their Power Play option up their sleeve for Quarter 4.
Autobots were well served by Ethan McLeod (Goal Attack) and Isaac Theakston (Centre) as both had plenty of speed around the court. Jaxon Sime also took a lot of intercepts throughout the match to turn the ball over for Autobots.
It was however Untouchables who capitalised on their turnovers and, with their shooters on point, they finished with a 15 point win.
Untouchables will meet Mixed & Matched in the grand final next week.
The B Grade match was a thriller with Peak Golden Nuggets claiming a one point win,
34-33, over Sisters of Mercy.
The game was close throughout with Peak Golden Nuggets one point ahead at the first break and then they went out to three points in front at half time, 16-13.
They stretched that margin after they used their Power Play option in Quarter 3 and added another 14 points to their tally.
Sisters of Mercy used their Power Play option in Q4 where they went close to snatching victory, however Nuggets hung on to win.
Peak Golden Nuggets will play Rebounders in the Pool B grand final next week.
