Students wear bandannas for annual cancer fundraiser

Cobar High School students took a positive stand last week, donning bandannas in a show of support and solidarity for children directly affected by cancer.
Bandanna Day is the major yearly fundraiser and awareness campaign of Canteen, a charity organisation that does everything in its power to assist and help children that are suffering from cancer.
CHS students purchased their bandannas for $5 each and those that did not buy one were encouraged to make a gold coin donation.
In total Cobar High School raised more than $300 on the day for the charity.
The funds raised from Bandanna Day go directly towards providing programs, counselling, and peer support for kids battling cancer.

Since its inception Bandanna Day has raised a staggering $33m for children suffering from cancer.
Cobar High teacher John Carswell said the students enjoy doing their part for the annual fundraiser.
“We’ve been a big supporter of Bandanna Day for a long while now and this year was no different,” Mr Carswell said.
“We’re really proud that we were able to raise some funds that we know will be used for the very best of purposes.”
