Round one of the Copper City Tri Series Dirt Track was held on Saturday at the Cobar Auto Club and attracted 46 riders.

The first of three rounds, the family friendly event was held in cold and windy conditions, however that didn’t stop a large crowd of spectators heading out to watch 11 categories of racing ranging from the 50cc High Power to the All Powers and the Grey Beards over 35s.

The day started with the seniors Exhibition scrutineer race followed by the flat track, with riders coming from Dubbo, Bathurst, Gilgandra and Broken Hill to compete for the trophies on offer.

Two ex-Cobar Auto Club members, Brett Robotham (who competed) of Brisbane and Troy Cook from Goulbourn made the return home to catch up with some of the ‘old’ riders at the club’s reunion event.

The event finished off with a bang with fireworks lighting up the sky.
