Painting the town pink for mothers

One very lucky mum will be spoilt this Mother’s Day as part of the Cobar Business Association’s Paint the Town Pink promotion.

The Cobar Business Association is giving away a hamper full of fantastic gifts for mum which have been generously supplied by local businesses.

“We’ve received a great response from lots of local businesses who are keen to help paint the town pink this Saturday,” Cobar Business Association president Sharon Harland said.

“The Paint the Town Pink promotion starts today and by Saturday we hope everywhere you look in the main street you’ll see pink.

“Pink is a traditional colour for Mother’s Day and if it’s everywhere this week it might help to remind dads and kids that it’s Mother’s Day on Sunday.”

Mrs Harland said the association had a great response from a similar Mother’s Day promotion they did a few years ago.

“It really got a lot of attention, including a number of visitors who were driving through town and stopped to see what all the fuss was about,” she said.

“At one stage I looked up and the traffic in the main street was at a standstill and there were lots of people about.

“I’m hoping we can re-create that again this Saturday and get visitors to stop and shop in Cobar.”

From today until Saturday when you shop at participating local businesses, you’ll be invited to go into the draw to win the Mother’s Day hamper.

“There’s pink jewellery, a pink hair dryer, pink slippers, pink lollies and fudge, flowers, chocolates and vouchers for mums to have their hair and nails done.

“I wouldn’t mind winning it myself,” Mrs Harland said.
