Over 20 years of service

Local couple Brad and Karen Lennon were farewelled a couple of times last week,
including a formal farewell from the Rural Fire Service (RFS) Far West Team on
Thursday (pictured above). The couple came to Cobar just over 20 years ago when
Karen took up the role as Manager of Children’s Services for Cobar Shire Council.
Karen worked with Council for 16 years, then nearly four years at Cobar Public
School and more recently at Cobar TAFE. Brad also worked with Council and for the
past five years, he’s been with the RFS. Brad will be moving into a new RFS role when
the couple moves to Tamworth this week. Cobar was where they chose to raise their
three children and the pair have been great members of the community and have been
involved in numerous fundraising events. Brad served with the Fire and Rescue NSW
Station 256 Cobar crew for 18 years (and eight of those years as captain), is a past
president of Cobar Little A’s and been ‘Santa’ at countless events over the years.
