New award for our Mayor

Cobar’s Mayor Lilliane Brady was announced as the winner of the inauguralMinister for Local Government Award on Monday. The state’s longest servingfemale mayor earned the Minister’s award for her commitment to increasing the participation of women in Local Government. The award aims to recognise a female councillor or staff member who has delivered quality outcomes in helping women in their local community. Local Government Minister Shelley Hancock said Cr Brady’s achievements in public life over four decades of service were “too long to list”, but she was “the epitome of passionate community service, determination and strength of character”. The Minister said we need more women like Cr Brady in Local Government to close the gender gap and ensure our councils are representative of the communities they serve. ▪ Photo courtesy of RacingPhotography.com.au
