Netball’s two top teams straight through to grand finals

JKM are through to the A Grade senior netball final this Saturday after they survived their minor semi final thriller of a game on Saturday winning 36-28 over Hot Shots

As expected the two top teams in the sen-ior netball competition are straight through to their respective A and B Grade grand finals after wins in their major semi final games on Saturday.
In A Grade, Divas booked their grand final spot after controlling their match from start to finish on Saturday with Pumpettes.
Divas were in great form to win 45-32.
They made a fantastic start outpointing Pumpettes two to one in the first quarter be-fore Pumpettes recovered in the second quar-ter to keep themselves in the game.
At half time Pumpettes narrowly trailed 16-22. They continued to keep in touch dur-ing the third quarter but Divas were too strong in the last quarter and went on to finish as 13 points winners.
In the B Grade major semi final, Real Steel were the first team through to the grand final after they narrowly accounted for Golfie Mystics, 33-29.
A good start in the first quarter ensured Real Steel kept their noses in front as Golfie Mystics came back at them for the remainder of the game, even outpointing them 9-7 in the third quarter. Real Steel however clung on to finish as narrow four goals winners.
In the A Grade elimination semi final, JKM and Hot Shots played a thriller of a match with the lead changing throughout the game.
Both sides were well served by their shoot-ers with Sally O’Brien and Elleise Wood-bridge working well together for JKM while Hot Shots’ Sam Vaka and Brianna Coffey were also in sync with their shooting at the other end of the court.
JKM were up three goals at the first break before Hot Shots recovered to take a one point lead, 15-14, at half time It was left to the defenders on both sides to make a difference in the game and JKM bounced back with a big third quarter effort.
JKM had more possession and were able to outpoint Hot Shots 13-6 in the third quarter and they managed to hold on to the lead until the final whistle.
JKM won 36-28 and will now meet Pum-pettes in this Saturday’s A Grade final to see who will progress to the grand final.
Sharpe Shooters will play Golfie Mystics in the B Grade final after they eliminated Gum-nuts in their minor semi final on Saturday.
Both Sharpe Shooters and Gumnuts started the match short on players with a couple of late team members joining the game at the start of the second quarter. Sharpe Shooters’ shooters Carli Crook and Stevie Toomey were however in red hot form throughout the match to help their team finish with a 59-17 win.
