The Hillston combined Golf Open was held on Sunday with a group of 12 Cobar lady and eight men golfers making the
trip.

It was another brilliant win for Narelle Kriz who shot 78 off the stick and she was also the A Grade Longest Drive winner.

Angela Fryer was over the effects of jet lag winning the A Grade Stableford event with 35 points with Sally Bannister the runner-up on 34 points.

Julie Livingston was the nine hole net winner.

Sue Phillips teamed up with Noreen Blunden from Hillston the day before to win the nine hole Ambrose title.

In the men’s competition, Mick Bannister won the B Grade Scratch title and Geoff ‘Herbie’ Dunne was the B Grade Handicap runner-up and also had the Longest Drive.

It was a close finish in last Wednesday’s Ladies Golf Stableford game in which Ann Dunn was declared the winner after a countback with Sally Bannister.

Both ladies scored 32 points in the field of 15 players.

Another countback separated Carol Abbott and Geraldine Francisco when each finished with 31 points.

Sally Bannister picked up a Nearest the Pin prize on the 3rd hole and Susan Goonrey was closest on the 15th.

Saturday’s Stableford had slightly higher scores (wind assisted?) with Marlene Wynd’s score of 37 points enough to hold out for the win.

Serena Fraser and Pat Polack both ended the day with 36 points followed by Ann Dunn on 34 and Geraldine Francisco posted 33.

Fraser and Polack were closest to the flag on the 8th and 15th holes respectively.

There was another tightly contested game on Sunday with the Stroke winner, Di Greer, holding off Judy Mitchell on a countback (73 net each). Hot on their heels was Pam Sikora with 74 net.

Barb Barklimore’s 23 putts for the day couldn’t be beaten.

Today is a Par game.

Saturday’s game is a variation Stableford (select own partner) and a Stableford plus Scratch game rounds out the weekend on Sunday.—T’d Off
