A new $60,000 shade sail was installed last week at the Cobar Memorial Swimming Pool. Council’s director of finance and community services, Kym Miller said the shade is a bit larger than they originally planned (each of the four poles on the shade weigh over one tonne each) however with a history of high winds in the area which have previously caused damage to shade sails, Mr Miller said going big was a better option. The shade was installed by local contractor Cynend. Funding for the project was provided by the Australian Government’s Drought Communities Programme—Extension (Round 2) to support local infrastructure projects.
