The Cobar Camels Rugby Club held their annual general meeting on Sunday with former player and Cobar Rugby Old Boy, Mal Harris, elected as the club’s new president.

For a long time in any member’s memory it was the first time the position was contested with past secretary/treasurer John Beer also put forward for the president’s position. After a long deliberation and a vote, Mr Harris was elected as president.

Outgoing president Jarrod Marsden did not seek re-election for the president’s role however accepted the position of vice president along with Allan Fazulla. The position of secretary/treasurer was not filled at the meeting and Mr Beer has volunteered to continue in the role until the club’s next meeting, at which time it is expected the role will be filled.

The outgoing committee was praised for its hard work last season which saw the club make a great turnaround on and off the field and also finish in a better financial position this year.

Mr Harris said he hoped to continue that good work, and in addition would have a focus on recruiting more players and spectators.

At the meeting, it was voted that Daniel ‘Howie’ Howard, Jarrod and Kylie Marsden and Kevin Mitchell be granted Life Memberships of the club.
