Locum here to help out

The Cobar Primary Health Care Centre has the services of Port Macquarie GP Dr Raymond Jones for a few weeks each month for the next three months to help out with the workload at the Cobar practice. Dr Jones has been practising for about 40 years and, before spending much of his career in Grafton and the past five years in Port Macquarie, he also spent time working in a number of western area towns including Bourke, Brewarrina, Lightning Ridge, Collarenebri and Coonamble. Dr Jones said he has plans to retire soon and wanted to revisit the west before doing so. He praised Cobar and its facilities, including the Cobar Memorial Swimming Pool (which he
visits morning and afternoon), Ward Oval and the Cobar Bowling & Golf Club. He said Cobar’s isolation and a lack of immediately available specialist services have made his job a bit more challenging compared to working in Port Macquarie.
