Locals get crafty

The first in a series of Cobar Shire Council’s Crafternoons was held at the Cobar Youth & Fitness Centre on Sunday. Local artist Kylie Harvey taught 10 eager participants the basic skills of block printing. Carrots, potatoes and polystyrene were carved into shapes and used to print patterns onto fabric. It was very intriguing to see how many different designs were created by the participants who were all given the same tools. Pictured is Crafternoon teacher Kylie Harvey with some of the participants, Elizabeth Whiteman, Angela Shepherd, Jane Siermans and Peter Florance. The next Crafternoon will be held this Sunday amd will be a watercolour session taught by Ann-Marie Johnson. Bookings are essential.
