BMX racers Georgie and Chad Buckman travelled to Sawtell on the mid north coast on the weekend to compete in Round 3 of the NSW BMX series.

It was a mixed weekend with Georgie scraping into the finals and Chad just missing out.

Chad’s weekend was made very difficult after finishing 7th in his first moto/heat. He needed to finish in the top three to advance to the semi-finals in the following two motos.

In the second moto he did just that pulling out a 3rd place finish.

In the last moto Chad however placed 5th and missed out on progressing to the semi-finals by just one point.

Georgie scraped into her class final with two 4ths and one 5th place finishes in her heats.

Starting from gate 8 in the final, Georgie was in 6th position heading into the first corner but got stuck on the outside and was unable to move down to hold her position.

She moved back to 8th place but worked her way into 7th spot down the second straight but once again was caught on the outside and had to give up her position.

Georgie remained in 8th position across the finish line.

The BMX racers will be on the track next in June competing at the NSW pre-titles event at Penrith.—contributed
