Local ladies bring home the Peak Hill golf silverware

The Cobar lady golfers who made the trip to Peak Hill for the Western Districts Ladies Golf Association (WDLGA) Sandgreen Teams event on Sunday came home big winners with Sue Phillips, Narelle Kriz and Jenny Stephenson taking the title for 2019. 

Runners up on the day were Wan Sipasta and Fay Hardwick.

The Peak Hill Women’s Open was played in conjunction with this event and once again Cobar golfers showed the way.

Jenny Stephenson was the Open winner, Narelle Kriz the runner-up and the longest drive winner in Division 1; while Wan Sipatsa was the handicap winner in this division.

Sue Phillips won the Division 2 stableford and the grandmother prize.

Back home, Fay Hardwick posted 72 net to claim the win from Chrissy Gilligan (74) in last Wednesday’s stroke game.

Geraldine Francisco (74) and Jenny Stephenson with 75 net took the minor placings.

The best with the putter was Chrissy Gilligan having 22 putts over the 18 holes.

Another good roll up on Saturday with twelve players for the stableford game.

Geraldine Francisco, with 73 net, won the day from Pat Polack (74), Di Greer (75) and Ann Dunn on 77 net.

Twenty six putts for Fran Samios, Narelle Kriz and Pat Polack were the best on course.

Susan Goonrey celebrated her birthday with a win in Sunday’s stableford round after a countback from Barb Barklimore with each scoring 37 points.

Ann Dunn was next with 35 and Pat Polack had 34 points.

Ann Dunn collected a nearest the pin on the 3rd and the 15th went to Marlene Wynd.

Today will be a par game. A big weekend of golf is scheduled with 54 holes to be played over the 2 days for the Club Championships with Saturday being a ‘free’ day.—T’d Off
