Raymond Jones smashed six long standing records at Cobar High School’s annual swimming carnival last Wednesday at the Cobar Memorial Swimming Pool.

Jones put in a sensational effort to break the Under 15 Years Boys’ records for the 50 metres freestyle, 50m backstroke, 50m butterfly, and 50m breaststroke events as well as setting new records in his 100 metres freestyle and 200 metres Individual Medley events.

Apart from the 50 metre breaststroke record, (which was set by Brett Robinson in 2003), all the other records had previously belonged to Dylan Prince who set them at the school’s carnival in 2010.

This year the Chesney team finished as winners with a final tally of 502 points.

They were well ahead of Great Cobar on 432, Fort Bourke narrowly finishing third with 429 and Occidental was fourth with 362.

The 2019 Under 12 Years Age Champions were Dakota Connolly and Oisin McMullen with Chloe Seng and Dustin Crotty finishing as the runners-up.

Molly Carter and Luke Giurin claimed the Under 13 Years titles with Ebony Aumua and Damon Bruce the runners-up.

In the U/14s age group, Neve Carter and Tadgh McMullen were the champions ahead of Heidi Trudgett and Bayley Milliner.

The U/15s winners were Ruby-Belle Stingemore and Raymond Jones.

Bridie Bruce and Zac Broughton were the Under 15s runners-up.

The U/16 champions for 2019 were Lucy Bell and Jacob Clark, with Hannah Carroll and Ben Griffiths the runners-up.

In the 17+ Years age division, Zoe Carter and Liam Richardson were the champions with Abby Carswell and Conor McMullen runners-up.
