It’s been a busy few months for some Cobar swimmers

Cobar Swimming Club will be taking a break from competition over the Christmas holidays and for some of their members the break will be very welcome after a very busy few months.

A contingent of the club’s swimmers have been competing at various carnivals since the start of the 2017/2018 swimming season with their most recent carnival being held in Warren at the beginning of the month.

Five swimmers competed at Warren with Raymond Jones finishing with five 1st places, three 2nds and two 3rds from his 10 events.

Milla Davey competed in five events and finished with one 1st place, two 2nds and a 3rd place. Milla also recorded a PB in her 25m Breaststroke swim.

Haidyn Davey finished 5th in her 25m Breaststroke event.

Elisha Robinson competed in eight events and finished with PBs (personal best performances) in her 50m Breaststroke and 50m Backstroke events.

Olivia Robinson swam in three events and recorded new PBs in her 50m Freestyle and 50m Backstroke swims.

Two club swimmers, Georgia Baker and Raymond Jones, competed in Canberra on November 25 and 26.

Georgia swam in six events with her best result a 3rd place in 100m Butterfly.

Raymond had 10 events and finished with a 3rd place in 100m Backstroke where he also recorded a PB. Raymond also recorded a new PB in his 200m Backstroke event.

Brothers Jair and Jared Apaza competed at Mudgee on November 26.

Jair had a good day in the pool finishing with five PBs from his seven events while Jared competed well in his four events.

The brothers also competed at the Dubbo Swimtech carnival earlier that month.

Jair competed in seven events and finished with PBs in his 100m Freestyle and 50m Breaststroke events.

Jared had three events and swam a PB in his 50m Freestyle event.

Elisha Robinson swam in five events and Olivia Robinson competed in three.

Makaila Gordon had a big program at the Dubbo Swimtech carnival competing in 11 events. Her best finish was 3rd place in the 200m Individual Medley (IM).

Raymond Jones also had a big program with 13 events. He finished first in 50m Butterfly, 50m Backstroke, 50m Breaststroke and 100m Backstroke. Raymond also recorded four 2nd places in 100m Butterfly, 50m Freestyle, 200m and 100m Breaststroke swims and he placed 3rd in the 200m IM.

At the start of the season in October, Makaila and Raymond competed in Lightning Ridge and both swam in 11 events.

Makaila finished 1st in seven of her events and 2nd in the other four while Raymond had seven 1st places and three 2nds.
