Double header for League Tag start

The Mixed League Tag competition got underway on Thursday night with double header games to kick off the new season.

Racks and Sacks defeated Junior League 8-7 in what was a cracker of a match.

Naomi Whitehurst scored two tries for Racks and Sacks (ladies’ tries are worth two points) along with teammates Ash Davies (1), Tyson Swift (1) and Travis Schintler ran in two tries.

Junior League’s Corrina Brenton and Madasan Taylor added four points for their team along with Zane Taylor, Ted Smith and Elias Aumua each scoring a try.

Last year’s competition winners, JKM Phat Athletes, were dominant in their clash against I Dunno winning 10-7 with JKM Phat Athletes’ girl power on show with Bianka Jacobson and Summer Patterson scoring a try each and Ella Moratti landed two tries. Matt McBride also added a try for JKM Phat Athletes.

Reynold Mugugia was the big try scorer for I Dunno running in four tries, Jay Ellison added two points and Ryan Urquhart (1).

Barracudas won their match against Junior League 7-5 with Brennah Aumua scoring two tries and Jenna Fullagar and Marty Turton (one each) for Barracudas.

Junior League’s Ben Griffiths touched down for three tries while Zane Taylor and Ted Smith scored a try each.

JKM Phat Athletes recorded their second victory of the night with a narrow 6-4 win  against Racks and Sacks.

Bianka Jacobson (1), Nikki Davey (1) and Josh Brown (2) scored for JKM Phat Athletes with Racks and Sacks’ points coming from a try each to Dusty Good, Seb Best and Jack Govett.
