Local stock and station agent David Russell
has once again topped the list of rural
sales in NSW for the Nutrien Harcourts
group.
David recently ranked as the Number 1 Nutrien
Harcourts Rural Sales Consultant in NSW
for 2020/2021 ahead of Narrabri’s Paul Thomas
and Wagga Wagga’s Sally Douglas.
David and his team have previously topped
the Harcourts rural selling list in 2020, 2016
and also back in 2012.
A licensed stock and station agent, real estate
agent, auctioneer and licensed pilot, David has
worked in the industry for more than 40 years
(including running his own business for the
past 37 years).
Among the biggest sales for David over the
past 12 months
were: Nardoo Station
(Wanaaring)
comprising of
96,044 acres which sold this month for $3.675
million; Nimagee Station (Nymagee), 30,186
acres that sold in April for $2.7 million; Florida
(Cobar), 22,875 acres that fetched $2.5 million
in March and Coronga Downs north of
Cobar (45,128ac) which sold in February for
$1.6 million.
Stanifords (comprising of 49,000ac at Mount
Hope) has also just sold for close to $5 million;
the sale of Amphitheatre is expected to settle
soon; and Yara & Kilparney Station (Mt Hope/
Lake Cargelligo) 130,000ac with a large
amount of farming permits including 20,000
acres of farming country, which David said
broke all records for the area, has also sold in
excess of $26 million.
With these three recent sales (not included on
the current list) and the fact that David has six
more substantial rural listings currently on his
books (two of which are valued at a combined
$2.59 million and are currently under offer
while negotiations are also in place on another
listing that comprises a massive 123,338ac)
David is looking like being the favourite to
take out the No 1 title again in the next financial
year.
David credits the “very good year” for rural
sales to the good break in the season.
“A lot of people are chasing well improved
farming country and people are also chasing
properties to run goats and dorper sheep,” David
told The Cobar Weekly.
He said coupled with very good commodity
prices and loan interest rates at an all time low,
“you could say the ducks have all lined up”.
“Some of the sales have also
been due to people retiring and
moving on,” he said.
David credits much of the success
of the past year to his “very good, dedicated
staff” and “a very understanding wife as I’m
away a lot of the time”.
Not only have David and his staff been
breaking records in rural sales, they’ve also
been among the top urban sellers for Nurtrien
Harcourts this past year.
“Since COVID, we’ve also had massive
online auction sales and I think we’ve done
about 2,500 lots at our online clearing sales.”
All in all it’s been a very busy year for David
and his hard working team and they are very
pleased to see that success is looking like it
will continue into the next financial year.
