Cobar Public School wins the Nyngbar athletics shield

Cobar Public School hoisted the Nyngbar Athletics Carnival shield high after the school
won it at Ward Oval on Friday

Cobar Public School claimed a win of
the Nyngbar Athletics Carnival shield last
week with the Cobar athletes coming out
on top over Nyngan.
Two athletes, junior girl, Ellie Pickford and
senior boy, Kai McCosker set new carnival
records in their 1,500m runs.
Ellie set the new time of 7 minutes 12.78
seconds in her run while the new Senior
Boys record is now 6.51.14 set by Kai.
From the carnival CPS now has 20 students
who have qualified for the Western Zone
carnival in Dubbo next month.
The school held their athletics carnival on
July 30 with the Great Cobar team finishing
as winners over Occidental with Fort Bourke
third and Chesney was fourth.
Age Champions from the carnival were:
Juniors—Jaxon Waugh and Ellie Pickford;
11 years—Eli Martin and Piper Allen;
Seniors—Eli Hodges and Miranda Orr.
There were three school carnival records
broken, once again all were in the 1,500 metres
run.
The new 1,500m records that now stand
are: Jaxon Waugh (Junior Boys) 6.54.02;
Ellie Pickford (Junior Girls) 7.02.27; and Kai
McCosker (Senior Boys) 7.05.34.
