The Cobar Swimming Club held their annual swimming carnival on Sunday with 32 Cobar swimmers competing against their peers from Nyngan, Warren, Dubbo and Mudgee.
The junior swimmers competed in a 52 event program in freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke and butterfly races along with ‘dash for cash’ and novelty events.
For many swimmers, it was their first experience competing in a carnival setting and all swimmers are reported to have achieved great results.
Results were: 6 years and under Boys—Mason Hill 1st 25m Breaststroke, 1st 25m Backstroke, 1st 25m Butterfly and 2nd 25m Freestyle; Sione Fakahua 1st 25m Freestyle.
6 years and under Girls—Ali Taylor 1st 25m Breaststroke, 1st 25m Backstroke, 1st 25m Freestyle and 3rd (7 and Under) Dash for Cash; Kaiah Atuau 2nd 25m Freestyle; and Elsie Francisco 3rd 25m Freestyle.
7 years Boys—Archie Fugar 1st 25m Breaststroke, 1st 25m Backstroke, 1st 25m Freestyle, 1st 25m Butterfly and 1st 25m Dash for Cash.
7 years Girls—Kelsey Coffey 2nd 25m Breaststroke, 3rd 25m Backstroke, 3rd 25m Freestyle and 2nd 25m Dash for Cash.
8 years Boys—Lenny Hill 1st 50m Breaststroke, 1st 50m Backstroke and 1st 50m Freestyle.
8 years Girls—Rosie George 2nd 50m Breaststroke, 2nd 50m Freestyle and 2nd 50m Butterfly; Maisy Francisco 3rd 50m Breaststroke and 2nd 50m Backstroke; Isla Jo Murray—3rd 50m Backstroke, 3rd 50m Freestyle and 3rd 50m Butterfly.
9 years Boys—Aisea Fakahua 1st 50m Breaststroke and 1st 50m Freestyle.
