Cobar Athletics Club well represented at Zone carnival

A group of 23 Cobar Little Athletics Club members participated in the Little Athletics of Australia NSW (LAANSW) Zone Track and Field Championships on November 28 and 29 at Wellington.

All those in the U/8 to U/17 years age groups who finished in the top four places of their events have now qualified to compete at Regional level next February.

The Under 7 years competitors (who are not eligible to compete at Regional) who finished in the top spots collected medals with Mohala Graham winning a 2nd place medal in her 50m sprint and a 3rd in the 70m run.

In the Under 7 boys division Sam Turner won three 1st place medals in long jump, discus and shot put events.

Under 8 boys—Daniel Buckman placed 2nd in long jump and 3rd in the 60m hurdles; and Malcolm Gillette finished 3rd in both his shot put and 70m sprint events.

Under 9 boys—James Turner placed 3rd in his shot put event.

Under 10 boys—Reef Martin won his discus and shot put events; Kai Taylor finished 2nd in his 200m sprint and 800m run.

Under 11 girls—Zahlia Graham placed 2nd in her 400m sprint and 2nd in the 60m hurdles.

Under 11 boys—Ryan Urquhart won his 800m run and was 2nd in the 1500m.

Under 12 boys—Chad Buckman placed 1st in his 1500m run, 2nd in the 800m run and 3rd in his triple jump event; Ryley Morley was 3rd in high jump and also 3rd in discus; Todd Polack won his 60m hurdles sprint; Zane Taylor finished 2nd in his discus throw and 3rd in his 800m run.

Under 13 girls—Hannah Carroll placed 1st in her triple jump, discus and javelin events and third in her 200m sprint; Madasan Taylor was 2nd in her 400m sprint and 2nd in her 800m event and also placed 3rd in the 100m sprint.

Under 13 boys—Ben Griffiths finished 1st in his 200m sprint, 2nd in the 80m hurdles and 2nd in long jump.

Under 14 boys—Dylan Morley came 2nd in triple jump and 3rd in the long jump and also 3rd in high jump.

Under 17 girls—Taylah Good won her 100m and 200m hurdles events, as well as her triple jump and javelin events. She also finished 2nd in her 100m sprint and 3rd in the 200m; Emma Hutchison placed 2nd in long jump, triple jump and shot put. She also finished 3rd in her discus and javelin events; Hannah Kriz won the shot put and was 2nd in her discus and javelin throws.

Under 17 boys—Andrew Rorke won his discus, shot put and javelin events.

The Cobar girls relay team consisting of Madasan Taylor, Chloe Polack, Hannah Carroll and Taylor Good ran well to finish in 2nd place in the 12-17 years event.
