Charitable convoy in Cobar

A Pakenham Lions Club project, the Need for Feed Disaster Relief coordinated by Graham Cockerell, passed through Cobar on Sunday bringing 13 trucks of hay and grain to desperate farmers in the west of the state. The group, working with Drought Angels and the NSW Farmers Association, made deliveries in Cobar, Wilcannia, White Cliffs and Tibooburra. Mr Cockerell said they’d had a few problems and had hoped to have been able to bring more hay with them (they had 13 truck loads this trip) but plan to return next month with more. “The amount of bales is not important. It’s showing these people support,” Mr Cockerell said. Cobar Shire Council provided sandwiches and drinks for the crew’s lunch on Sunday at Ward Oval.
