Following their thrilling 34-30 win on Saturday at Walgett, the Bantam Roosters will now join the Cobar Ladies League Tag team for a grand finals road trip this Sunday.

Despite their Bourke Warriors opposition having a 20-16 advantage at half time, the Cobar boys fought back to claim an exciting four point win at full time.

Try scorers for Cobar were Brad Davies (2), Henry Brookman (2), Johnny Best, Jason Fell and Nick Buckman.

Brookman converted three goals.

Despite only having 12 players to Bourke’s 15, Coach Ben Simon said his team was lucky to come away with the win.

He said ultimately it was their superior fitness that won them the match.

Simon also believes their high level of fitness will serve them well in this week’s grand final game against Collarenebri. (The Colli side hasn’t had a game in the past six weeks.)

“The boys need to hold the ball and not pass it around too much. Our defence is pretty good. We’ve got players who can score points.

“They just need to score points when they come and don’t push it,” Simon said.
